We had been considering this renovation for quite some time. Once plans were drawn our excitement grew about this project, and what it would add to our home. At the same time, we knew it would be a big undertaking and the selection of the right builder was critical. Looking back, we can’t imagine working with anyone besides the entire team at Country Club Builders.
In our initial meeting, we noted that for us, communication and project execution were the two main factors influencing our decision. We believed Country Club Builders evidenced the most enthusiasm for our project, and they would be able to effectively communicate and execute our plan. Our belief held true to the end.
Throughout the project, they maintained that initial level of excitement and communication was seamless. We always knew how construction was progressing and what to expect next.
Country Club Builders also brought their unique creativity and experience to the project. Rather than just building to the plan, they offered up possibilities we couldn’t have imagined. Their knowledge and experience allowed us to at least consider, and usually incorporate, design details that brought a “wow” factor to the finished product.
When creativity is coupled with highly skilled craftsmen, who care deeply about what they are doing, the result is a finished product of unbelievable quality and design. Everyone who has seen the project has been amazed.
We have just begun using these new spaces and they have lived up to every expectation. We are truly thankful to have partnered with Jim, Steve and everyone at Country Club Builders.
In the summer and fall of 2012, our family faced a big decision. Our needs and activities had evolved, especially as the girls grew, and we started to consider if we should move to a bigger home, or stay here and make changes to this house to meet our needs. We looked at a few houses in the surrounding area, but quickly realized that ours is not just a house, it’s OUR HOME. We lived here as newlyweds, and brought two baby girls home here from the hospital. We absolutely love the Brookside area, and feel especially lucky to have fabulous neighbors all around. We are all emotionally attached to this house and decided to stay and make the changes necessary to enjoy it even more.

We wanted to achieve both of these while maintaining the character and integrity of a Brookside home.
We are thrilled that we selected Country Club Builders to remodel our home. Steve and Jim Atkins have been professionals through this entire process and it is clear that they are committed to quality and making sure every detail is done correctly. We appreciate their sense of urgency, frequent and timely communication, and positive attitude. Steve and his crew were able to take our vision and make it happen, and worked hard to overcome some challenges we faced in this 88 year old home.
We also appreciate the help of Kathleen Ramsey and Laura Cooney who added their expertise and fabulous attention to detail to this project. When it was time to move back in, Kathleen was extremely helpful in making everything feel like home again.
The remodel process was certainly a journey and the entire family is thrilled with our new and improved home. We moved back in just in time to celebrate Kate’s First Communion with many out of town family members and it was such a fabulous weekend for so many reasons. We look forward to years and years of laughs, celebrations and family time in our improved space!
We received two bids for our kitchen remodel. Country Club Builders wasn’t the cheapest, but we also extended our scope of work because of their thorough assessment of what would make our kitchen the best it could be.
Jim Atkins took care of the bidding process. He listened to what we wanted to accomplish and provided his professional opinion about our goals. He got back to use within a few days with his bid that included a thorough list of the work to be performed, an estimated cost for cabinets, flooring, appliances, plumbing, electrical, glass, windows, etc. He also provided a couple of alternatives for us to consider.
One of the most attractive things about Country Club Builders is the fact that they don’t start a job until all of the materials are ready. Once they start a job, their project lead stays on the job until it’s completed. They worked about 24 consecutive weekdays to complete our extensive remodel. They sealed the kitchen off from the rest of the house to cut down on construction dust circulating throughout the house and they cleaned up daily.
We chose to work with their vendors for all of our materials although we had the option to obtain materials anywhere. Steve Atkins, the company’s owner, has a good relationship with these vendors. As a result, if there’s a problem, he can do a good job of representing the homeowners’ interests. We had two appliances and a couple of cabinet doors that sustained shipping damage. These items were immediately replaced. Overall, their vendors were easy to work with.
We couldn’t be happier with the job they did. We will definitely use them again if we decide to make additional changes to our home.
Country Club Builders completed a complete remodel on our Master Bathroom and Laundry Room. We interviewed two other contractors for the job. All of their prices were ballpark prior to the job starting, but they were all within about $5,000 of the others. We felt that Jim Atkins did the best job of explaining the company, and the process. He also had the best ideas relative to how we might get the best use of our space in the bathroom and laundry room. He thought of things we had not. We had some friends who recommended Country Club Builders because they keep the bids for materials and labor completely separate, allowing you to purchase your materials from any vendor if you choose. Also, they don’t start a job until all materials are delivered to your site, so that there should be no delays once a project starts. The other thing that they do, which is probably the most important, is that they promise that at least one person will be in your home working on your project every single day from start to finish. This proved to be true, and our project took 5 1/2 weeks (which is what they told us to expect from the beginning). Most days there were at least two workers in our home. Our laundry room remodel included a complete demo of the existing cabinets, floor, etc. They installed new cabinets, backsplash, countertop, built-in storage shelves, tile floor, and built a raised pedestal for our front – loading washer and dryer. They also removed an inconvenient door, and installed a pocket door, and painted the room. We love our new laundry room, and it looks a million times better than it did before. In our master bath, they removed a corner “garden tub”, removed the old shower and wall, removed all cabinets, etc. Jim spent a lot of time helping us to design the space making the most of what we had. They installed a new, much larger shower in the corner where the tub was before. They tiled the floor and shower and backsplash for two cabinet walls. They installed new cabinets and quartz countertops. all new hardware, rerouted plumbing, re-wired electrical and added more lights to the ceiling and added sconces, added a new electrical outlet, etc. The bathroom was completely gutted and everything new was installed.
The thing I was impressed with was that they never did anything without asking me exactly where I wanted it, how I wanted it, and if I was completely happy with it. I know that some contractors would have gone ahead and done what they thought I might want, and then worry later. They asked me about everything! We are so happy with the end result. After the job was done, a tile popped up in the shower, and I called, and the very next day they came out and fixed it. All the workers were polite and cleaned up every single day. They were always exactly on time each morning…never late. Eddie was especially great to work with, and he was the lead guy on the job. They completed the job on time, and with no budget overages, other than a couple of things that we decided on mid-project. When that happens, they give you a bid for the extra project, and you sign off on it before they start.
As promised, workmen showed up everyday on time. They were courteous, clean, and we were comfortable having them in the house (unlike other companies in the past). They hung plastic sheeting over all areas not involved and provided a zippered access to the clothes closet. They worked outside or in garage, when possible, to decrease mess, dust and noise inside.
Steve Atkins is very easy to work with. There are always little glitches in remodeling but he promptly fixed or changed anything that didn’t come out as we expected. We never had to argue about anything. He had very practical and experienced ideas for us. The companies he deals with are all first rate and great in helping us decide what plumbing, tile etc. to use.
As usual in custom jobs, it takes longer than planned, but well worth the wait. Steve is a pleasure to work with and came every day to check the job and answer questions. He is a very responsible builder and easy to work with.
We initially contracted with Country Club Builders to remodel and enlarge a bathroom, with specific attention being given to ADA features. We also had the company remodel our garage and utility room areas again with a focus on ADA standards so as to provide easy access to our home.
Country Club Builders did an excellent job. Steve Atkins had a good relationship with all the suppliers and subcontractors, had very qualified employees and personally saw to completion of the projects in accordance with our expectations and in a timely manner. We had such a high regard for the quality of his work and the very helpful suggestions he offered that we engaged him to address areas beyond our original plans. We would most certainly use Mr. Atkins’ Company again
My bathroom needed updating. We completely gutted the bathroom, moved a wall 18″ to enlarge the room. Some plumbing was moved so fixtures could be rearranged. I had never done this large scale kind of remodeling before. Steve came over, talked to me, looked at the room and the pictures I had cut out of magazines with options that I liked. From those pictures, I had an idea in my head of what I wanted the final outcome to look like. I was not disappointed. From the suppliers that work with them, to Steve, to his workers, everyone helped to make it come together.
I was very pleased with the finished product. I have the most beautiful bathroom in town.
After purchase of a new home, I needed part of my basement remodeled. Country Club Builders was prompt in coming out for estimate and gave an accurate estimate. They made sure they knew exactly what I wanted and made several helpful suggestions. The work began as scheduled and except for some unplanned bumps in the road (never know what you might find when you tear down the walls) the remodeling went quickly. Any problems that came up they dealt with in a professional manner and I am very pleased with the space they have helped create.
Steve is an expert in the remodeling business. He is very knowledgeable with many years of experience. He takes pride in his work and hires quality people that care about the final product. I have hired him to do several projects for me. I previously owned a remodeling business, and he is one of the best I’ve ever dealt with.
